Holding a 2nd degree black belt in Japanese Kenpo and a 3rd degree black belt in Japanese Jujutsu, Sensei Ross’s expertise spans across various disciplines, showcasing his commitment to mastering the art of self-defense, striking, and traditional techniques. His competitive achievements include placing in the top 5 at the U.S. Open in sparring and earning a top 6 placement in kata, underscoring his dedication and skill in both combat and performance.
Sensei Ross has had the privilege of training with martial arts legends such as Bill “Superfoot” Wallace and Shannon “The Cannon” Hudson, further enriching his knowledge and proficiency. He stays connected with industry leaders through participation in programs from renowned organizations, including Century Martial Arts, GoPro Academy, and more, ensuring he remains at the forefront of martial arts innovation and instruction.
In addition to his martial arts achievements, Sensei Ross is committed to professional growth. He travels quarterly for advanced training in martial arts and business classes, ensuring he remains well-prepared to lead and eventually take over the dojo. Furthermore, he participates in 2-3 advanced trainer training sessions per month to continuously improve his teaching skills.
As a member of Skillz (Child Development Center), Sensei Ross studies how to effectively train children based on their individual developmental levels. This dedication has earned My Island Martial Arts recognition as a Licensed SKILLZ Child Development Training Center, providing age-appropriate, personalized instruction to support the growth and success of every student.
